Monitoring yourself as you record is a mini-hot-button issue. Personally, I do it (more on the reasons why in the video) and when I do, I never ever use traditional headphones. Why? "Bleed." So if you want a clean recording with no phase cancelation from your mic picking up your headphones, how do you do it? EIMs, or "in ear monitors." But the regular earbuds leak, too. It's be nice to have some of the super-snug, professionally fit kind like you see rockstars use, but they're crazy expensive.
